Welcome to
The Official
Site for the
Midwest Creative Architecture Competition

Throughout the history of
human construction, facilities designated for religious
worship have consistently represented many of the world's
finest expressions of architecture. Some of these sacred
spaces were the product of decades of craftsmanship in
construction. One need not look beyond their own community
to find examples of unique, diverse and often daring
structures of architectural design. These buildings in many
instances provide a welcome visual relief to the monotonous,
contextualized and unremarkable residential and commercial
we can be accustomed to passing from day-to-day.
This year's competitive
challenge seeks to inspire participants to produce
inspirational original designs for worship facilities for
their local communities. Whether contemporary or
traditional, sprawling or small, iconic or understated, no
one pattern of design is dictated, but the concept
possibilities are as endless as there are expressions of
organized worship. We believe that involving students in an
area of design as challenging as these building types can
stretch their aptitude, application and abilities as they
become focused toward producing a technically, contextually
and architecturally successful house of worship..

The 2011 Midwest Creative
Architecture Competition (MCAC) showcased in Chicago challenges high school students
exploring architecture and engineering to express their
creativity in several areas of expression. These category
areas include CAD design, architectural illustration,
interior design, urban development, engineering,
construction, model-building, photography, video and
classroom projects.
